JK2007 in The Royal Forest of Dean
We would like to invite you back to the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean for JK2007. This stunning area has a great reputation for hosting superb orienteering events including the JK2002 and before that the JK1974!
The area is in the South West of England on the borders of Wales and is very popular with visitors who come to explore the rolling hills and ancient woodlands. The individual and relay races will be held in some of the most spectacular countryside with a contrasting urban sprint race in Bristol.
The terrain for the individual races will be a runnable mixed woodland of oak and beech with rolling hills and steep slopes. The forest shows the scars of its industrial past of lead and coal mining, so there are many pits, spoil heaps and charcoal burners’.
platforms making for an intricate area. The relays will be staged in an army camp with many roads and tracks dividing up grassland now used for grazing. It will be fast and furious and spectators will benefit from excellent views as the races unfold.
We promise you orienteering of the highest quality that will make for an exciting and challenging weekend.
